Birthdays and Easter!

Oh boy! In a mere one week period, we celebrated three 1st birthdays!

The first birthday was Addy's!

HUGE cupcake tower! 300 homemade cupcakes!

Cade was eyeing out the green cupcakes the entire party! He finally enjoyed one- mostly only the frosting! Kenny enjoyed looking for eggs!

Addy sleeping during her party!
Cade and Great grandma Tamayo playing with his car and scooter outside

Kenny has  been walking so much, we decided to try her out with slippers! She loved it and started exploring everywhere outside!
 The Yamada Easter bunnies!
Kenny celebrated her 1st birthday! She opened presents and tried Komoda cake for the first time! YUM!

Kendyll's birthday buddy, Kenna, also had a party

 Kenna's dessert table!
Cade showing off his painted turtle. Kendyll sorta enjoying icecream.

Cade has been very scared of the bouncy castle up until Kenna's party. He wouldn't go in it or would only bounce for a few seconds and then want out. But, for some reason (I think the fact that Kenny went in too) he now LOVES it!

Moving along...

Both the house and our baby are moving along. Let's start with Kendyll. She has been standing and taking 2-6 steps for more than a month now. She wasn't too interested in progressing into full walking until late last week. All of as sudden, she decided she'd rather walk than crawl. So, now we have a toddling little girl. (Sigh) She even thinks it's fun to try running.

While on Oahu last month, Garrett found a t-ball set for Cade. He's a little too tiny for it, so Garrett found a boost for him. Nice stance! Here's our future income so Mommy and Daddy can retire early!  :)
Notice- the tee went flying farther than the ball!
Moving on to the house renovation. What's the green stuff oozing out of the craft room!
 The water-proofer for the flooring!
We (or maybe just me) contemplated over what kind of flooring to put in downstairs. I've been lucky- Garrett and Mom have allowed me to design and pick a lot of the materials for the house. After many hours of debate (with myself! ha!) we decided on koa engineered hardwood flooring. Technically, it's called Acacia wood since it wasn't from Hawaii. We're happy with how it turned out!
New family room with flooring done!

Built in bench for our breakfast nook.
Pantry (right) and powder room (left) off of the kitchen
New stairs- there's a slight curve towards the bottom- it's not your eyes playing tricks!
Hi Sport!

Aaaahhh April Part II...

It's the beginning of April and we are all breathing a sigh of relief. In March, Garrett had a big test at the beginning, and I had a big project due at the end. Needless to say, it was a very tiring and stressful month- trying to fit in studying, work, and kid time. We are HAPPY to be done and eager to celebrate MANY birthdays this month!

At the end of March we ventured over to Oahu to celebrate Jacob's 1st birthday! Oh, it was so much fun. His circus party was a success. I was the "unofficial" photographer for the night, so I don't have too many pics on our camera. I'll have to get some from Joy.
"Cheese" with Marianne, Hoku, Shawn, Joy and Jacob
Happy Jacob!
Hanging out at the zoo. Geez, Kenny, just relaxin' with the legs up, huh!

Jacob and Kendyll hanging out and kissing!
 Cade's 1st UH baseball game

Children's Discovery Museum: they had a blast!

Clockwise from top left: Cade showing off his baseball talent, loving the trains, found the car (just like the one in Vegas), cruisin' on the couch

Kendyll loved playing with all the new toys in the "padded circle"...we need one of these at home! She didn't like the "creeper"...this one is similar to the Las Vegas Children's Museum one we visited 5 months ago.

Aaaahhhhh April Part I...

The 2nd phase of our house renovation is underway. Here's a little tour of what's been happening. If you don't remember or never saw the old house, the above pics are the old "tv room". It was an addition my dad worked on in 1986ish. There was a small bathroom, closet and large room where we watched tv. Cade had a blast playing in there and showed us he can "drift" with his cars. So here's the before...
Outside the house. Where the decking starts is the new addition: our room upstairs. The family room and mom's craft room downstairs.
Demolition of the "tv room"
Getting ready to pour cement to even out the floors.
After pouring
The new bathroom/pantry area
No stairs! Yep, the stairs have to be redone. They'll be wider and angle at the end.

New upstairs drywalled: the kid's new room. The doorway to the left will open up and connect with the loft area of the new side.
Cade in Gammy's craftroom. The cabinets and countertops went it! So clean! Yes, that's his "undies"! If this kid could walk around in ONLY his UNDIES, he would.

Another view of the craftroom
View into the new family room. If you're lost, the craftroom is to the right, new kitchen will be to the left. This door was on the old outer wall of my bedroom. It will become the dining room.

View into my old bedroom, from the new family room. That's the small bedroom Garrett, Kenny and I lived in! Feels so good to be spread out upstairs now! So, there you have it...hopefully more progress to share soon!
