photographer pics...

A few of our friends referred us to a new photographer. I checked out some of her work and loved the way she didn't use traditional poses. We decided to take pictures with Kristy Copperfield for our holiday cards and to make canvas prints for Gammy's Christmas present.

It was hard to keep the photos a surprise for over a month. First, I had to lie and tell her we were going to a birthday party, since I knew we wouldn't be able to get out of the house dressed like we were. Then I had to bribe Cade to not tell her that we didn't go to a birthday party. Of course when we got home, Gammy asked him if he sang "Happy Birthday" or had birthday cake- of course he said "no, I had cookies from Aunty who kept taking my picture". That made my mom a little suspicious- but I tried to cover up and say he was off playing and missed the cake and singing.

Phew. So, I thought we were in the clear. Kristy the photographer posted some proofs on my facebook wall and my mom doesn't have fb so I knew she wouldn't see them. Well, I thought wrong- someone happened to see my mom out at a store (or somewhere I can't remember) and mentioned that we had cute pics up on my fb page! AAAHHHH! So, thinking I was probably gonna have to throw in the towel- but my fabulous sister covered up for me and told my mom it was pics from a recent wedding the kids were in.

We were able to make canvas prints of a couple of our favorites and gave them to Gammy a couple days before Christmas. She loved them!
Family photo. Kenny was a grump that day- but Kristy worked her magic!

Cade was so photogenic. He loved being able to lay on the bed and then jump up and down!
I love how Kristy captured Kendyll- so natural. The finger sucking one is SO her! The one where she looks like she's dancing on the bed is her actually crying to get off!

I forgot to mention that we took the pictures during a special styled mini shoot Kristy set up. There was a bed and lots of prop and decorations set up at the Hui Noeau.
Thank you Kristy! The pics came out better than we could've imagined!!!

Happy 2012...

Happy belated 2012! Hope your year is off to a great start! We were thankful for the time we were able to spend with family and friends this past holiday season! Boy, we did a lot since Mommy was off work for almost 3 weeks and Daddy finally decided to take off of work too!
Christmas was a fun day. Good thing the wind and rain let up so the kids could enjoy their special present outside... more about that in a bit.

Checking out their stockings- they were excited with just those toys!

It was fun to watch Cade open his presents. He was very patient and neat; he would make sure to throw away the paper and bows and waited his turn. Of course, he wanted to play with everything, but was ok with putting them on the side til later.

Oh boy, Kenny on the other hand had no clue what was going on! She was all over the place! She would pick up one present and be interested for a minute, then drop it and move on. Oh wells, she enjoyed herself in her own 20 month way (yes, she's almost 2!!!!).

My Aunty Lynette made a quilt for Kenny of her birthday owl! It looks exactly like it! We LOVE it! Thank you so much!

Daddy trying on Kenny's new dress
The kids were very lucky to have their Daddy convince their Papa Dean and Grandma Carol to buy them a riding tractor. Ohhhhhh gosh!

First ride
Even Sporty was able to catch a ride with them

Look at their faces!

A few days after Christmas, we were able to get together with a group of high school friends that were visiting and their families! It was so fun to catch up and reminisce about our high school days!

Kenny and her birthday buddy, Kenna. Cade and his pre-school friend, Imaikalani.
It's so neat that our kids are growing up with our friend's children!

Since Daddy took some much needed time off from work, he requested to go fishing one day.

The two munchkins doing what they do best- being cute!
 Helping Daddy make the line.
Cade fishing!

Mommy and Cade with the biggest catch of the day! (I'm not sure Garrett even caught anything! ha ha ha ha)
(Sigh) Before we knew it, the New Year crept up on us and it was time to celebrate the arrival of 2012.

Kenny playing dress up with Grandma Carol

Cade trying to stay up til midnight! He did and then crashed in the car on the ride home. Cade was very curious and intrigued by the fireworks for the first year; he wasn't interested in playing them, but actually wanted to stay outside and watch/listen for once!

Kenny almost made it til midnight! She fell asleep around 11:30. She wasn't interested in the fireworks- lucky for us Grandma Carol played with her inside where it was quieter.
On New Years' night, we celebrated at another party and this time Cade wanted to play! (Shhh, don't tell Gammy- I don't think she knows!) he he he
Gammy bought the kids helmets on her trip to Oahu. Cade loves it (even though the pic looks otherwise). He wears it all over! It's actually really cute and funny to see him walk into Garrett's work with it on! ha ha ha ha!

Merry Christmas Eve...

 Happy Holidays!

Smiling with Aunty Erin!

Cade hanging out with Daddy and Uncle Darin
Cade's letter to Santa! Sooooo funny! We are having a lot of wind and rain this Christmas, so Cade agreed that leaving soup and hot cocoa was a better idea. Look at his attempt at his name! Although I coached him, he held the pen and did it all! It's interesting because every time Cade practices his "C" he wants to close it off to be a full circle. OCD in training?
Cade also wanted to leave some oatmeal, lettuce, and tomatoes for the reindeer.

We had the annual mochitsuki at the Miyamotos a week ago. Look at the pics from this year and last! Hmmm, this may become an annual picture!
Cade playing with Linds. He loves playing around with her!

Hello December... Goodbye 2011!?

Wow, I was just starting to get the hang of 2011- now it's time to say goodbye and welcome the new year!
Kendyll hanging out with Great grandma Tamayo during Thanksgiving lunch. Great grandma has such a loving, gentle touch- no wonder she was able to calm K down!
I love this pic! Can't wait to watch Cade grow and eventually be able to beat up his Daddy!
Garrett has been so eager to play football with Cade- he can actually throw and catch pretty well (Cade, not Garrett!) I just thought this was a cute pic of Cade "running like the wind".
All the cousins on the deck for a sunset photo
I dunno what Chansi was trying to do, but she was dragging her legs and walking on her hands. Just the thought makes me giggle!
I think this may become an annual photo we do on our steps! Oh, and do you see the lights I put on the banisters! I've always wanted to do it and finally have nice stairs to do it on! :)

If you have kids, I'm sure you can empathize with how long it can take to get a decent photo! We got our Christmas tree last weekend and decorated it with the kids. We put these two nice cushions down on the floor and wanted Cade and Kenny to sit on them. Of course, she refused and kept screaming "no!". Ok, fine we think- we'll outsmart you. We told Sport to sit on it and then she wanted to sit- but wouldn't look at the camera! Aghhh! Got a semi-descent shot of all three! Then, they both ran off and poor Sport was left by himself (I actually think he didn't mind and took advantage of the empty cushion!).

Got the idea to shorten the Swiffer mops and Kenny loves it! She walks around cleaning all the time! PLEASE make this last until high school!
Addicted to the ipad! She loves a song from Anuhea called "Love Song" and will sing parts of it: "I'm finally..." It's soooo cute! This little sassy girl is a talker! Her favorite lines right now are "I hungry, I fart, I want some" (not all at the same time! ha ha ha ha).
