Ok, before we get to Uncle Brandon's visit, Cade has been doing really well at reading and writing! He wrote out the story of Little Red Riding Hood and drew pics for us! Way to go Cade!
Alrighty, on to Uncle Brandon's visit! He came the weekend of the County Fair (also known know as Maui Fair... but we're old school and it will always be the County fair to us!)
Kenny posing before she falls asleep! It took us almost 45 min to get into the parking lot. Needless to say, the kids (and adults!) were STARVING! We hit the food tent first!
Thanks to our generous Aunty Elaine and Aunty Irene, we saved a lot on
food and got to try the food tickets they gave: orange chicken, chicken
hekka, chili and rice, and a turkey drumstick! Yep... just like
Disneyland!
When Cade was a baby we took him to Disney World, where we had our first Turkey drumstick. We tried to recreate the pic... here's the original:
Look how tiny Cade was! AWWWWW
Ok back to the fair.
Our good friend April's family volunteers every year at the bone marrow registry booth. For some reason, I didn't think to ask Garrett if he was registered...until this year. We realized that when I registered when I was 18, Garrett couldn't, since he's born later. Then we went off to college... moved back...and since then they process is less invasive. No longer do you need to give blood- you swab your mouth! Looks like they're brushing their teeth! Brandon was kind enough to register too!
Checking out the fire truck while Daddy and Uncle were registering. Soon after this picture, Kenny fell asleep and needed to be carried. This was the first year we didn't think about bringing a stroller. We keep forgetting that Kenny can fall asleep ANYWHERE! As soon as it's her bedtime.. be ready!
Cade talked about playing the "soda ring" game and his eyes lit up when he found it
I walked around to get a better angle and soon after he got the ring around the bottle!
I'm not sure if Cade realized... but Daddy did! :)
His smile and excitement were priceless. Way to go earning that $2 soda, buddy! :)
While Kenny slept, Cade remembered one ride from last year: the Helicopters. As soon as he saw it- he made a beeline for it! Uncle Brandon was nice enough to ride with him!
Kenny missing all the excitement!
Uncle Brandon treated us all to a night at the Marriott in Kaanapali. SWEET!
When will be able to take a nice pic, with all 4 looking?
Excited to find another pirate ship pool and some new friends: Mr. Turtle!
This is the exact same pirate ship as the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas that we stay at. The kids loved it!
Rainbow over the West Maui mountains
Uncle Brandon wasn't able to go up to Haleakala for sunrise because of the government closure of the park. The beautiful sunset helped satisfy him til next trip.
The pond was dyed pink- we think for Breast Cancer month?
The next morning was very overcast, but comfortable without wind, so we headed down to the pool bright and early. That was great, since no one was there! Uncle Brandon gave us his iphone water camera case so we decided to test it out!
Kenny is usually very hesitant about the water, but this time she dove right in and was eager to swim around in her monkey.
Of course we needed to get shave ice! Uncle Brandon loved his red velvet/chocolate combo! Thanks for the fun weekend Brandog!
