Before Aunty Lisa or Aunty Jocelyn make a comment about not updating the blog, I thought I'd do it! Besides, the cable went out because of the wind, so the tv isn't distracting us.
It's hard to believe our "baby" is a year and a half old already! He went to his well baby check up the other day and he is developing and growing well, although still tiny for his age (10-25th percentile for all categories). The dr. asked him to stack four blocks on top of each other, something he does quite often at home, so I wasn't surprised he could do it. But, then the dr. asked him to feed a tiny four inch baby a bottle. I didn't think he knew what to do, but to our surprise he was successful! The dr. also noted he should have a vocabulary of six words. We went home and counted over thirty! YAH!
Garrett's cousin Dayne was home for the holidays and we finally got to spend some time with her before she went back to California.
Cade and Chaz play pretty well together- they don't fight over the toys too much! Chaz is a very good sharer.
Kids just have a tendency to love boxes- Cade is no exception!
Chaz and his family bought Cade this drum set for Christmas. We had no intentions of putting it together yet. However, Garrett went to Portland for the weekend and put it together, then hid it, for us to enjoy while he was gone! Luckily, Cade has a short attention span, so he doesn't sit at the drum set for very long.
G has been practicing his golf game as much as he can. We had a chance to play on Oahu with Lisa and our cousin Thomas over Christmas break. Of course Lisa kicked our butts... but I could still beat G (and I was five and half months pregnant at the time!). He said it was a very humbling experience... at least he's a good loser!
Cade was helping to cheer on his Uncle Cisco's Saints this past weekend! The "paint" came off during nap time- good thing 'cause Gammy wasn't too thrilled to see it on!
Lia came over to play last week and the two of them were sitting on the couch so nicely- well, long enough to snap a picture.

A short video clip of Cade exercising! When I was pregnant with Cade, G was nice enough to gain sympathy weight so I never got heavier than him. However, with this pregnancy he didn't make the same agreement! He has been on the Insanity workout and Cade loves to watch and copy G. It's hilarious!
Oh, and a side note- no, that's not poop by the couch; it's Sporty's monkey! And, pardon the messy living room- we have a toddler who doesn't believe in cleaning! Enjoy!
Lastly, pregnancy with baby two has been going very well and uneventful! No cravings. Just getting bigger. I feel HUGE already- much bigger than I did with Cade at 27 weeks. I am carrying this baby a little lower, so more pressure on my pelvis and back. Other than being tired, we'll be heading into the third trimester soon!

Rascal...

Cade has learned to climb up on everything. I recently turned my back on him for just a couple of minutes and ta-da! He was in his kitchen sink!

He also understands smiling and posing for the camera!
Garrett stores all of his hats in this ottoman, just so they don't get lost or squished. Cade loves to open it up and play with them. Again, he thought it would be fun to climb in!
We sit at the computer a lot, so Cade climbed up on the chair and was mimicking and entertaining himself too. He realizes the mouse moves on the screen and loves to play with it.
Garrett's dad was over to help fix the brakes on our old truck. Cade instinctively grabbed a tool and pretended to help them fix it!

Hau`oli Makahiki Hou!

Happy 2010! We spent Christmas on Oahu this year at Lynn's grandparent's home in HOT Ewa. Cade is very fortunate to receive lots of free toys. He loved this cement truck and felt he was supposed to be riding it like his other cars at home.
Cade LOVES shoes (just like his Mommy and Gammy!) He finds all sorts to wear.
A deflated football he received from Aunty Lynette and Uncle Ben. He found all sorts of uses for it- a hat and then a chair, which he spun around in for awhile. At least it kept him occupied!
His new "man" kitchen from Gammy. Garrett agreed to let Mom buy the kitchen because it wasn't so "girly". Cade loves it, but he's a little too short to turn on all the lights and sounds, so he discovered using the stools to boost him.
Hanging out with the binky
Family picture
Kula Lavender Farms. Too bad it was too cloudy to see the beautiful view of Maui.
Cade checking out one of the statues.
Here in Hawaii we celebrate New Years with lots of fireworks! Cade was getting used to the noises on Oahu, because at my grandparent's home in Ewa, people were lighting them from days before Christmas! Cade would say "boom, boom" when he heard it. However, he wasn't too fond of them on New Years. He kept signing "all done"!
Cade loves other kids. He was very fond of Wesley and just walked over and sat in his lap while the other cousins played video games. We're blessed to be close to our families so that Cade can grow up with them!

Mele Kalikimaka...

Christmas is just a couple of weeks away and we still haven't started thinking about our cards! Ooops! They may end up being New Year's cards or Valentine's cards! I could give the excuse that we've been quite busy, however, we have no evidence to back us up! We've just been bitten by the lazy bug...

One of Cade's favorite places to play is under the dining table. He loves to play with Gammy's bracelets. Yes, Garrett knows about it and doesn't quite approve...

Cade also realizes that he needs to put shoes on to go outside. However, he doesn't quite realize that it needs to be his own appropriate shoes. It's a good thing that we're about 99% sure Cade is having a little sister!

We try to go to the beach as much as we can, but it ends up only being about once or twice a month. Cade absolutely LOVES the sand...
The water is a different story. He doesn't care for being in the ocean at all!
Even catching a small wave with Daddy wasn't appealing.
Cade is usually very shy around new people and cries when they try to carry him or make contact with him. But, he loves his Uncle Brent! He just went right over and sat in his lap, and was more than willing to share his toys with him!

Random update...

Cade has been keeping us very busy! What an active toddler! Here are just a few new things.
He loves climbing. When given the opportunity, he climbs up or into EVERYTHING! Sometimes it can be quite funny and entertaining, but other times it can get dangerous!

Cade's first bites of ice cream! YUM!
Cade is quite the accomplished shopper. On a recent trip to Oahu, Garrett found this cute hat for him, which he loves (sometimes!). All the excitement of shopping and attention he received from strangers made him sleepy...

I don't know who was having more fun playing ball, Cade or great grandpa!

Lastly, SURPRISE! Cade will be a big brother in a few months. I am about 17 weeks along so far. This pregnancy has been a little different; I had morning sickness for a couple of weeks, but it was in the evening. Now I feel fine, but very tired. It's hard to tell if it's the 16 month old we have running around or all the hormones in my body going crazy! No real cravings like I had with Cade... it has been more G having ice cream or icee cravings in the night time!

November already!

Happy Belated Halloween! Cade and his friends at daycare all got sick with a bad cough the week of Halloween, but they were still able to find energy to carve cute pumpkins.

Cade had to practice wearing the costume because he was not thrilled at all!
All the practice paid off! He even learned to "roar"...sometimes.
Gammy found these cool foam blocks at Costco. Cade has learned in the last few weeks that the shapes fit into each other. It has been very amusing to see him use his problem solving skills!
We love to take Cade outside and walk down the driveway to get the mail. Along our trees we have our friends, the Jackson chameleons. I don't know how I spot them so easily, especially this tiny guy!
We must talk on the phone a lot because Cade has been mimicking it for awhile. He puts everything which looks like a phone up to his ear and says "hi".

Update...

Cade loves the sand and beach! We met Garrett's cousin one evening as they fished and Cade played with his cousins in the sand. Copying his cousin make sand angels!

Brushing his hair after his bath
The annual Maui County Fair was the first weekend of October. It is not nearly as big or overwhelming as the Puyallup Fair that we've gotten accustomed to in WA. We haven't been to the County Fair since high school! We were very excited to go and eat all the great food, but Garrett was more excited to take Cade on some rides. It was a very HOT afternoon and Cade didn't take a nap, so I think he was a little dazed about the rides and didn't know what to think!
A smile on the carousel!
