Christmas Trip to Hawaii...

Our Christmas trip home to Hawaii started off a little snowy! Our initial plans were that Garrett and Cade were going to fly out Thursday (yes, by themselves!) and Lynn would join them Friday or Saturday. However, plans changed when Lynn's school was cancelled because of the winter blizzard. Fortunately, we flew out right before the airports closed down and all of the travel chaos began. We were lucky!

Seatac Airport snowy! We were about an hour delayed out of Seattle because of the snow and they had to de-ice our plane. Friends and family all advised us that we needed to feed Cade as we took off and landed. We tried our best, but the delay screwed us up! Our happy baby only likes warm milk, so luckily sucked on the binkie as we took off. Cade did a good job flying to Maui. We were surprised to see a baby changing table in the lavatory on the newer Hawaiian airplanes! Cade didn't want to be put down in the spare seat between Garrett and I nor did he want to be carried by Garrett. But, I enjoyed the time with him because I knew once we got to Maui, he would be carried by everyone else non-stop!

First fishing trip! Cade hung out in the tent all day, so he didn't get any sunburn! Here he's watching Daddy fish. No big catches that day, but had a lot of fun with family and friends.

We escaped to the Westin Kaanapali Villas for a night of luxury! It was amazingly beautiful! We had our own kitchen and living room, along with a private hot tub in the bathroom. I think we need to remodel our house to look like this!

Cade has had many visitors come up to WA already, but still had a lot more family to meet on Maui. Here's his 2nd cousins, Caitlyn, Courtney, and Lindsey.

Sadly, back on the plane to WA. Again, fortunate to be on an empty flight, so Cade got to sleep on his own seat! He was so pooped from all the fun he had that he slept for 3 out of the 5 hour plane ride! WOW!

Bundled back up for the cold weather! We spent 9 wonderful days on Maui, which was too little! Cade didn't get to play in the sand or at the beach because we were so busy visiting family and friends! Next trip definitely!

We got a little bit of snow this weekend, so the Federal Way School District is on a 2 hour late start today because of the slick roads. I would rather have late starts instead of cancelling school, since we don't have to make up late starts! Since I'm up and Cade is taking a snooze, I figured I should update this blog since it's half way through December already! Cade has lots of exciting updates!

First, he's a roller! He was getting very good at doing a half way roll for about a month now. He finally fully rolled over last week. I'm still trying to get sequential pictures of it happening; as soon as I take out the camera, he stops. We have video of him rolling, so I might need to be happy with having that.

We usually will lay him down on the floor (on his back) and walk into the kitchen to grab something. This is now how we find him- rolled over, looking around! It's cute. Every time he rolls, he has this excited and shocked look on his face like, "OH! What just happened?"

Secondly, Cade had his first taste of solids! YAH! Mom brought up poi during Thanksgiving, so Cade had his first taste yesterday. Cade was always eyeing our food and reaching for it. At the mall on Saturday, Garrett had Cade in the front carrier and was trying to eat frozen yogurt; Cade kept reaching out for some. Every time Garrett would move the spoon to his mouth, Cade would open his mouth and eye it out. He was finally content on chewing on the spoon.

Mmmmm poi! Poi is made from cooking then mashing taro root (kinda looks like a potato). It's the starch staple in Hawaii (next to rice); all babies start eating taro because of its bland taste and hypoallergenic nature. Cade was initially surprised that there was something on the spoon and quickly attempted to slurp it down. Most of it got on his bib.

We are getting ready for Cade's first trip to Hawaii! We found these shades for him to wear when we go to the beach! Garrett and Cade might travel a few days before me, by themselves! So, if you see a confused, distraught Daddy or hear a screaming baby, just put your earphones in and turn up the music a little. Nah, I'm sure Cade will do fantastic on the plane; he'll probably flirt and smile at all the flight attendants!

Finally, I clean out Cade's drawers every couple of weeks now, since he's growing so quickly! I found this onesie that my Aunty Elaine sent, and Cade didn't even wear it yet! Even though it's a 3 month size, I squeezed him into it! I had been waiting to have him wear it, but it was too big for the longest time and then the weather got colder. (Sigh).

Cade has been sleeping through the night for a few weeks now; goes to bed around 8:30pm and wakes around 6am. Sometimes he'll fuss around 4:30am, but finds his thumb and soothes himself back to sleep. A very easy going, happy and fun baby. We're thankful...

The Thanksgiving Weekend blur...

We were blessed to have visitors for Thanksgiving! Mom, Lisa and Neal all flew in to spend the holiday with us. Boy did we do a lot in such a short amount of time. We're still recovering from the lack of sleep, so I'm going to be brief! (We went shopping at 3am on Black Friday! It was worth it!)

We have a teether...

Ha ha ha! My dentist gave me this paci last week. Isn't it hilarious!

But really, Cade is teething. We went in for his 4 month healthy baby check-up and she said it's not unusual for babies to start this early. So far he hasn't been bothered by it too much. Cade loves to drink water and bite this green cup. I think it must feel good on his sore gums.
I found a bunch of teething toys we received as baby presents. Cade loves them! The first time he played with it, he decided to balance it on his nose! He he he.
We also recently added another piece of furniture to our living room. The jungle theme jumperoo goes well with any decor! Cade loves to bounce in it! It's good exercise for his legs and keeps him off his back.

Cade is doing great at sleeping through the night! 9 hours! We're getting spoiled!

Quick mid-November update!

I swear, we don't know where time goes! I've said it again and again that time is flying by. Didn't realize it's been nearly 3 weeks since we last updated! Sorry...been busy and lazy. :)

Our friend, Daeni, came to visit and met Cade for the first time.

Cade is almost 4 months old now! He's able to grasp on to things and stare at them. I gave him a toy to hold and he was very curious and held it in front his face for a few minutes trying to figure out what it was.

Cade figured out a way to suck his thumb and hold his toy. I promise, we're trying to avoid him getting too attached to his thumb, but he's sneaky! He loves popping his binky out when we're not looking and swapping it for his thumb.

Tummy time! He's very strong! Trying to also rollover, but can't quite get it. In a few weeks we'll have to post a video of him completely rolling over.

OH, and the best news of all. Cade is now almost completely sleeping through the night! Yipee! He goes to bed around 8:30 and can sleep all the way until 4:40-5am. YAH!

Our little pumpkin...

We decided to go to a pumpkin farm this past weekend. On G's way to work, he passes a small farm and corn maze, so we took a little drive to explore what they had to offer.

I dressed Cade in all of his Halloween/pumpkin clothing.

We ventured through the small corn maze they had. Unfortunately, Kyle wore slippers and had to carefully tip toe through the mud.

One of G's patients gave him a bib and beanie for Cade. It's a little too big for Cade, so G decided to put it on.

Slacking!

Sorry, haven't updated in more than a week. Here's a review of some of the activities we've been up to.

Garrett's PT classmate, Levi, and his family came to visit from Idaho. Their 10 month old son, Andren, is an extrememly cute big boy! We had fun catching up with them over dinner.

We had a baby "sprinkle" for Ranelle. (It's her 4th baby, so we didn't "shower" her with gifts...get it, we "sprinkled"...ha ha ha)
Cade boy and Sporty helped Uncle Kyle cheer on the Red Sox. Unfortunately, they came up a little bit too short.
Here's proof that Uncle Kyle does change diapers once in awhile (probably about once a month!) Cade thought it was hilarious because he made a big stink one for Uncle Kyle. He giggled the entire time!

WOW! It's hard to believe Cade is 3 months old already. Everyone told us to enjoy his time as a baby, because they grow fast. This picture sums up his favorite activity. Cade is still not sleeping through the night, but his generous smiles, laughs, and contagious giggles make up for it.

Aunty Lynette's quilt...

When we first found out we were expecting a baby boy, my Aunty Jocelyn and Aunty Lynette offered to buy us his bedding. At the time, I couldn't decide between one that had fishes and one that had polka dots. I also wanted something unique, so I asked Aunty Lynette if she'd be willing to make a quilt instead. Boy are we happy we asked! We were so excited to open her package and see this:

We're hoping to figure out a way to hang it on the wall until he's old enough to use it. Plus, Cade is a drool monster right now, so I don't want to be washing the quilt daily and wearing it out.

I asked my Aunty to put any type of sea animal, but in particular fish...

Lastly, when all our family was visiting last week, Cade starting sucking his hand as comfort. After a few days, he was starting to suck individual fingers or pairs. Finally, he decided his right thumb is his favorite and has been busily chomping at it the last two days.
